THE INEVITABLE

It plays tricks on us,
And tells us things it must.
But we don't like it at all,
So we aren't prepared for the fall.

But it will slowly sneak in,
For sooner or later it does begin.
And while we go about our days,
We must be prepared as everyone says.

For there is no stopping this,
There is no chance that we will be missed.
For with time it puts us in a "cage",
It's that thing we all call AGE!

LITTLE GREEN BABIES

We travelled deep into the heart of the country
Not knowing what we would find.
It was definitely a trip for a journal entry,
That took us back into time.

We stopped so Victor could say hi to his mother,
And Abel could try his first pozol.
We were told our trip would take us still further,
But we decided to put that on hold.

That weekend we had gotten some little "peeps",
And the idea of getting more was high.
So, Abel asked a young girl across the street,
And she bargained with us for two green babies by and by.

These baby parrots were so tiny,
One barely had feathers at all.
But at feeding time they get really noisy,
I and Can is what they are called.

He feeds them like a mother would,
And they have gotten use to this.
They would surely say thank you if they could,
For a feeding he never goes and miss.

There are words they must learn to say,
As they are now part of this new habitat.
Hi!, Welcome!, Prehispanico!, Massage?
These green babies that we have got.

They will never be caged against their will,
For that would be mean to do,
So everyday they sit on Triccia's window sill,
And accept their daddy's "I love you!"

CIARRA ALEXANDRIA

Celestial little being,

I love you so.

Angel to me you seem,

Radiant and all aglow.

Regal like a little queen,

Astonishing beauty forever more.

Amorous een when you fuss,

Lovely little star twinkling brightly,

Emitting your magical stardust.

eXciting days with you fly by swiftly,

Amazing us with allyou do.

Natural glow of childhood,

Darling baby to us are you,

Royal little girl, love from us will always flow.

Intelligence you surely possess,

Adoring little princess.

I LOVE YOU!

WOMAN, PLEASE LISTEN

That smile,
That kiss,
That voice so tender.
Those fingers,
Those arms,
That caress to which we surrender.

Man's words and actions,
That's our downfall.
Woman, it's time to awake,
Control your heart's call.
CONTROL YOUR HEART'S ACHE.

YEARNING

Living in a world
Where we want to believe
Or want to accept
That some things will never be
That's where we all have been
But we try to ignore
The echoes of our cries
The yearning of our souls.

"Why," woman, "I ask myself
Why is life a struggle?
Why is there so much pain?"

"Because we are only human,"
A voice seems to say.
"Because this is the only way,
The only way that we can exist."

ONLY IN BELIZE

How wonderful the breeze blows,
Even in the evenings when the sun sets,
Or when the moon over the bay glows,
Spreading the feeling of Belize that everyone gets.

To feel so free and to be alive,
In a ownderful land of nature's best,
Is how the person feels who will scuba dive,
Climb a mountain or sit in the shade to take a rest.

Birds chirp in the early dawn,
As the sun rays smile over the land,
It may be a busy day and you may be mowing the lawn,
Or driving and listening to the music of a Belizean band.

Clearly this land is a place of peace,
Where everyone moves to the rhythm and a flow,
There is so much love for hearts to release,
Only in Belize can you feel this glow.

A CRY FOR BETTER DAYS

While the world cries for peace,

Please listen to us and cease,

All that which causes so much pain,

Is there many who can stand without shame?

Each of us has hurt someone,

Down the road to becoming a man,

Or woman set in her ways,

Let's now hope for better days.

Let's join hands and seek a new,

And better place for all not a few,

We can do it if we try,

Please listen to this cry.

Join hands in friendship and see,

What this world can really be.

If you share in the happiness everywhere,

We can have many more friends, ever so dear.
